Why Bink?

Bink starts as a university project by Federico Boggia, Bink’s founder: a classic link in bio, built to learn and then left in a drawer.

The “b” stood for Binatomy, the name of the working group that later became the name of our company. B(inatomy) + link = Bink. Back then nobody would have guessed that one day that “b” would mean business.

After years as an employee, Federico quits his job and registers as self-employed. He is tired of not having a space of his own, he badly wants to be free, and he starts freelancing in software development.

Soon after, a former partner introduces him to two of his university classmates: Manuel, who was running a social media project about cinema, and Francesco.

Three years of ups and downs follow. Projects that go nowhere, a studio opened and then closed, partners who come in and partners who leave, not always by their own choice.

We finally open our company, Binatomy S.r.l. We keep doing consulting, as before, but we choose one road: building apps for phones. We give up websites and every other kind of consulting.

And we give ourselves a motto:

Just because you can do something doesn’t necessarily mean it’s worth doing.

Federico falls in love. With Ilaria, a photographer with her own studio in Livorno, he opens Koral, a creative studio producing photos, videos and podcasts.

The Koral studio also becomes the home of Binatomy and of Le Mura 85, a creative project to regenerate a neighbourhood in Livorno: a space for courses and events.

Within six months Bink, the product left in the drawer that Federico, Francesco and Manuel used now and then for a few clients, comes back to life. Ilaria is the one who revives it, the day she says: “But this tool could help me in my everyday work.” Bookings, payments, automatic invoices: they are what take us from Binatomy link to business link.

Bink changes and becomes the business in bio, and its motto becomes: Bink, your business in one link.
